CLASSICAL

As an accomplished classical ensemble the Marten String Quartet and its members have performed at the Wigmore Hall, the foyer of the Royal Festival Hall and the Purcell Room. They have also given recitals in St Mary Le Bow (London), St James Piccadilly and St Martin in the Fields and undertaken work for the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The quartet have received masterclasses from many eminent musicians including the Amadeus Quartet, the Alberni Quartet, the Brodsky Quartet, the Vermeer Quartet, the Lindsay Quartet, the Endellion Quartet and members of the Nash Ensemble.

The members of the quartet completed their music studies at the UK’s leading music colleges; Trinity College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music. They currently combine their work as a quartet with busy freelance careers in many areas of the music business, including work for orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of London, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and top West End shows.

“…the quartet who played throughout the afternoon came as a revelation… what so enthralled my ear was the energy, passion yet sensitivity the quartet brought to the hugely varied programme.”
